Layers of Hate
Nancy Dankof (Dayton, OH)
Mixed: Acrylic, Collage, Fabric, Wire, 16” W x 12” H
Artwork:
My painting, "Layers of Hate", depicts that "we are doing it all wrong". Across the centuries, mankind continually responds negatively, often, murderously, to perceived differences in class, culture, gender, race, religion, and sexuality. Layers of hatred and ignorance, virtually imperious to legislation, can only be peeled back, revealed and defeated by knowledge and love.
Artist Statement:
Nancy has always had a passion for art which is inspired by the colors in nature. She photographs images on walks and while traveling that she later interprets into paintings. She has been expressing these images with watercolor. These past few years she has been experimenting with acrylics and mixed media, trying new techniques. She finds joy creating and discovering new methods by using a variety of skills and supplies. She likes to discover herself with these different tools and techniques.
