- It's charcoal on gray paper, with subtle hints of blue chalk, in tribute to the immortal Davis classic, "Kind of Blue," recorded on March 2, 1959, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City. Much more than a mere jazz player, Mr. Davis revolutionized the genre in his roles as a bandleader and composer.
