The work is part of a group of 20 images that is a juxtaposition of the wonder and beauty of nature against weapons whose only purpose is to kill. The weapons have become the vessel for beauty to grow neutralizing them.
Artist Statement:
Recently I have begun working on a new series of composited images that are a reflection of man's consistent ability to invent ways to wage war and eliminate each other, juxtaposed with image of bouquets of flowers. The weapons become the vases that are holding the flowers set against a stained and abstracted backdrop or in some cases stars from the flag of the United States. Like most of my work the primary subject matter is distorted and blurred lending itself to a feeling of a perhaps a vague memory or unresolved visual element that the viewer can decipher and interpret in their own way. I set up a visual storyline that allows the viewer to reach conclusions about. The work might be reflective of our own inability to see the beauty that is everywhere around us, and focus on what seems to be a never ending path of destruction.
