On the shores of a river the receding waters expose the entwined roots of great trees. A landscape image may capture a moment in time but art that endeavors to remind us of the beauty and preciousness of the natural world, that invokes organic forces – time, wind, sun, changing seasons, the interweaving of the microbiota consortia as well as the footprints of humans – is an invitation to observe and connect.
Artist Statement:
The passion to connect to the cycles and interwoven intimacy with the environment within which I live is potent and leads to creating drawings that are a meditative treatment of nature’s treasures. Engaging in the physicality of the experience, the mark making is gestural and intricate resulting in a wide range of tones that vibrate energy, reminiscent of the underlying forces of nature itself.
